First, I think building a tool for syncing Slack/Discord to a website is a great idea with a lot of potential. Communities are popular already, will become more popular in the future and I think there's room to work on something similar.
The main point founder makes is to generate SEO friendly websites based on a content you already have in your public chat channels, and so 1) helping others find your community and also 2) more easily find answers from previously discussed topics.
What is also maybe worth mentioning is that it can be hard to start a forum/discussion board on the web (there's no habit formed yet to visit the site regularily), but on Slack/Discord it can be easier because people have these apps installed and it's much more simple to answer there than to form a habit to answer on a site.
Second, I really like how the founder started the project with a clear plan and intention. Not to just build another side project that you don't find interesting in 2 weeks (again) but to keep yourself from writing code and to actually start with a small research + potential customer calls.
