As a technical person, it's very common that your friends and friends of their friends usually need something technical :) So, it was the same with me. My friends often asked me about building a simple website or a system for them. Creating a system or a simple website just for one company is time-wasting. After years, I decided to do something about it. I did some research about available tools. After a few small pivots, we created Calendesk - an online booking system.

How did you find your first customers?
Maciej
We started with social groups. We offered free access for beta users. Some of the users became our paying customers.
Later on, we invested some money in paid ads. The product wasn't perfect yet, so it felt like wasting money, but it brought us traffic, which helped us to improve the platform. We always wanted to talk to our customers directly, and the one-to-one calls worked pretty well.

How are you finding your customers today?
Maciej
The main goal is to be visible in search results on Google. From the beginning, we invested in content marketing and link building. We knew this was the right direction for building long-term. It doesn't bring many customers yet, but it is growing, which is important to us.
We still use paid ads which bring us some inbound traffic. We try to also invest our time in outbound, where we search for our perfect customers.

What's your advice for other microfounders who want to get started?
Maciej
Start doing whatever it is. Talk to your customers every day. You will figure out more on the way.
